The third edition of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Summit on Innovation in Governance is to be held at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, New Delhi in partnership with Deendayal Research Institute and United Nations Global Compact. The Chief Guest for this event will be the Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri M Venkaiah Naidu. The summit convener is Shri Srijan Pal Singh (Former Advisor to Dr. Kalam and CEO Kalam Centre). Some of the key speakers and dignitaries at the event will be Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Indian Politician and Senior BJP leader, Dr. Rajiv Kumar (Hon’ble Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog), Dr. Jagdip Narayan Singh Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat , Lieutenant General Amarjeet Singh Bedi, UYSM, YSM, VS DGDIA & DCIDS – Intelligence, Ministry of Defense, Government of India and Govind Gaude Minister for Art & Culture, Tribal Welfare, Civil Supplies, Government of Goa.
Shri Srijan Pal Singh (Former Advisor to Dr. Kalam and CEO Kalam Centre) said, “KIGA is our tribute to Dr. Kalam and his spirit of bringing innovations to governance, something he practiced throughout his career spanning 6 decades. We are not only celebrating the idea of thinking outbox to help change the lives of millions but also creating a platform for cross-pollination of technological, management and administrative solutions from across sectors and states. ”
The summit will have about 100 most innovative public services personnel, including IAS, IPS officers, PSU leaders, business body leaders & administrative studies related researchers along with academicians. Continuing on the missions of Dr. Kalam, Kalam Centre organizes the summit to recognize select individuals and institutions for their exemplary work in improving governance and delivering value to the citizens. The Summit also features Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award for Innovation in Governance to be presented in number categories. These include Education, Healthcare, Sanitation & Nutrition, Security & Safety, Environment, Women & Child Welfare, Banking Economics & Finance, Rural Development & Agriculture, Social Welfare, Energy, International Contribution and Technology, IT & Enterprise and Infrastructure. The event will also feature the inauguration of ‘Kalam Digital Libraries’ across various locations in India and the launch of ‘Water Warriors 2.0’ (a sustainable locally customized curriculum for schools).
MoUs to set up 500 Kalam Digital Libraries across the several districts of India will also be declared which will benefit about 50,000 students to find better training in career counseling, science and technology, and value building. These libraries will operate on a free-of-cost basis for children in government schools and observatories and help connect top-end trainers in urban centers with needy children in remote parts of the nation. The first tranche of about 100 such digital libraries will be launched by the Hon’ble Vice President during the summit. The Kalam Bharat program will also be launched during the summit where 1000 volunteers across different regions of India will take up the task of mentoring 500 low-income schools for one year.
