The Embassy of the United States of America and the Learning Links Foundation in association with the Uttarakhand Science Education & Research Centre (USERC) is organizing a Three day  NORTH INDIA CYBER SECURTIY HACKATHON atWorld Integrity Centre (WIC), Dehradun on Feb 21-23 on the theme of cyber security.

Mr. Ravinath Raman, IAS, Secretary, IT, Government of Uttarakhand will inaugurate the Hackathon on February 21 . The guests who will be present on the occasion will include Mr. Amit Kumar Sinha, IPS, Director, ITDA, Government of Uttarakhand, Prof. Durgesh Pant, Director, Uttarakhand Science Education & Research Centre (USERC) Mr. Stewart E. Davis, Head Programs, North India, US Embassy and  Nisha Dua, Learning Links Foundation.

The objective of the hackathon is  to create awareness on the opportunities and challenges in the area of cyber security and build capacity among the youth in North India by encouraging them to build innovative solutions for cyber security issues. The event saw participation from around 60 students, who came across from Dehradun to build solutions for cyber security and tackle challenging problems.

During the duration of the event, the students and participants will work on developing solutions focused on security features for various applications that enable e-transactions and public services. Some teams showcased cyber fraud vulnerabilities and suggested possible solutions.

The winning team will receive a seed funding of Rs. 50,000 and the runners-up received Rs. 30,000 to further develop their solution. The North India Cyber Security Hackathon will travel next to New Delhi, April 11-13, where the winning teams from the recently concluded Chandigarh and Dehradun hackathons will get an opportunity to showcase their product.
