New Delhi  : The ruckus regarding the name ‘INDIA’ of the opposition alliance has not stopped yet. Now there is news that some big parties of the alliance have suggested a change in the name by adding a word (suffix).

It is being said that among these are Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party Janata Dal United and Lalu Prasad Yadav-led Rashtriya Janata Dal. However, both the parties have not officially said anything about it.

According to a media report,  JDU’s Rajeev Ranjan Singh Lalan and RJD’s Manoj Jha suggested adding the word Front after INDIA. If this is agreed upon, the alliance will be called ‘India Front’. The special thing is that this suggestion has been made in the meeting held in the room of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge before the proceedings of the monsoon session started.

According to the report, a leader of the opposition said, ‘The name is young and the situation is changing. The suggestion is that another word should be added to INDIA. It can also be different from state to state, like in Bengal the alliance can be called India Morcha and in Tamil Nadu India Alliance. It will be easy for the public to understand it and there will be less confusion.

In fact, there were reports that the name was suggested by former Congress National President Rahul Gandhi. Later, the proposal of the name was placed before the opposition parties on behalf of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. It was being said that some politicians including CM Nitish Kumar and Left leader Sitaram Yechury were not able to agree on this name.

Apart from RJD and JDU, Tiruchi Siva and TR Balu of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Derek O’Brien of Trinamool Congress (TMC), Sanjay Singh of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Gaurav Gogoi of Congress, Rajni Patil, Pramod Tiwari, Manickam Tagore, Vandana Chavan of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) were present in the meeting. Apart from this, many parties including Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, CPM and CPI also participated. ( PLC/GT )
