Anurag Singh Thakur, Hamirpur M.P attended the 124th Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union held at Atlapa Convention Centre, Panama City, Panama.
He was member of nine members Indian Parliamentary Delegation which was led by Speaker Lok Sabha and was organized by Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in association with National Assembly of Panama.
Sh Anurag Singh Thakur participated in the Assembly and sideline meetings and made useful contribution to the debates. He participated in “The Role of Parliaments in Ensuring Sustainable Development through the Management of Natural Resources, Agricultural Production and Demographic Change”
He also attended the meeting of Coordinating Committee of Asian Parliamentary Assembly in Panama
While speaking in the Assembly, Sh Anurag Singh Thakur said that no conversion of forest land was being done for arable land in India which was detriment to fragile ecosystem of the country .

He told that poverty in developing countries in farming sector had been attributed to lack of agriculture production and told that no forest or arable land was used for production of bio fuel production in India and it was only taken up in wastelands in a smaller scale .He told that development should focus on issues related to equitable access and distribution of scare water resources and added that wider dissemination of innovative technologies from developed to developing countries was a key challenge which must be addressed .

He stressed the need of a green revolution in Asia and Africa to meet the needs of diverse local agro ecological conditions and cropping system .
