Devastating Heavy Rainfall Claims Lives and Causes Destruction in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, UP, and Punjab

New Delhi  : The recent heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh (UP), and Punjab has caused severe havoc and destruction. Dark mountains, flooding rivers, and landslides have become a common occurrence in these regions. The continuous rainfall for six days has resulted in numerous casualties and damages.

In Himachal Pradesh, landslides have been reported at 39 different locations within a 24-hour period. The Beas River has overflowed, leading to the destruction of buildings and the collapse of bridges. The state has witnessed 27 deaths due to rains, landslides, and floods, leaving many people homeless. Additionally, 40 landslides occurred in the past 24 hours alone.

Uttarakhand also suffered from the wrath of heavy rain, with three tourists from Madhya Pradesh losing their lives when stones fell on their vehicles. Ten people were injured in this incident. Moreover, the bridge at Jumma on the Joshimath-Malari highway in the China border area was washed away, cutting off access for army personnel and locals in the border region.

In Uttar Pradesh, the rains have claimed the lives of 45 people, and a rain alert has been issued for 65 districts in the state. Heavy rain warnings have been issued for 12 districts, and four deaths have been reported in rain-related incidents. A total of 225 people have been rescued from flood-affected areas, and the death toll in the past 48 hours stands at 45.

The situation in these regions is dire, with loss of life, damaged infrastructure, and displacement of residents. The concerned authorities are working to restore roads, power transformers, and water supply schemes that have been severely affected by the heavy rainfall and landslides.
