A sub-inspector (SI) of Delhi Police committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Punjabi Bagh area. The deceased has been identified as Beni (58), a resident of Police Colony.
He was posted in the outer district. Police said that the information about the incident was received at 8.50 pm on Wednesday night. The SI was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his room and had bruises on his left wrist.
A senior police officer said that the family members of the deceased did not raise any doubts. He said he was recently admitted to MGS Hospital due to a chronic illness and other health problems and was on medical leave till October 3.
He had returned to his duty on Tuesday. Police said that the body has been kept in the mortuary of Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for further action. PLC/GT
