New Delhi : The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has allowed passengers to carry two bottles of liquor inside the metro. These bottles must be sealed. As per an earlier order, the carrying of liquor was banned in the Delhi Metro except on the Airport Express Line.

A committee comprising CISF and DMRC officials has taken the decision after reviewing the order.

DMRC has said in an official statement that consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited inside the metro premises. Metro commuters have been appealed to maintain decorum while traveling. If any passenger is found misbehaving under the influence of alcohol, legal action will be taken against him.

The revised rules for prohibited items inside the Metro have been updated on the Metro website. Delhi Metro has also prohibited commuters from carrying more than one lighter or matchbox per person. Along with Metro, Air India also updated its guidelines on alcohol. It states that passengers should not be allowed to consume alcohol unless the cabin crew serves alcohol to them. Cabin crew should take note of passengers consuming self-brought alcohol.

Earlier in January 2023, there was a ban on carrying many goods under four categories inside metro trains. Some arms and ammunition were already banned, later the list was expanded to include spirits and inflammable liquids of all kinds, sealed liquor bottles, items such as knives, cutlery, cleavers, and animals of any kind.
