New Delhi : The High Court will pronounce its verdict on Tuesday on the petition filed against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case. Justice Swarnakanta Sharma will hear the case at 2.30 pm. On April 3, after hearing the arguments of ED and Kejriwal’s lawyers, Justice Swarnakanta Sharma had reserved his decision in this case.

Earlier in the court, the ED had objected to the petition filed against the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying that he could not cite the upcoming Lok Sabha elections or his position as CM to claim any special exception in the money laundering case against him. Can’t give. At the same time, Kejriwal had said that forcibly extracting statements from witnesses so that they can be arrested during the elections, in such a situation the arrest is illegal. The High Court had reserved its decision after hearing both the sides.

Kejriwal has called his arrest a conspiracy. Questioning the statements of the witnesses, he said that the ED kept taking the statements of the witnesses until they took their names. As soon as his name was taken, he was arrested. Kejriwal had asked before the High Court, why the arrest took place in the middle of the elections. It is clear that the long-ago scam is being misused to create a non-level playing field.

ASG Raju, appearing for the ED, had said that no calculation was made as to why the five percent profit was increased to 12 percent. The only speculation is that this was done so that the seven percent share could be used to pay bribes. The fact that a scam has taken place is beyond doubt today. No matter how much noise you make, it is true that a scam has taken place.

At the same time, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Kejriwal before Justice Swarnakanta Sharma, had argued that there is no evidence against Kejriwal that he is involved in the crime of money laundering. He said the scam had come to light long ago. August 2022 and October 2023 but why arrests only during elections.
