Nanotechnology plays a critical role in bridging the gap between India’s battle with air pollution and the increase in demand for a clean and pure environment. Lauding the commendable efforts of brilliant nanotechnologists, HistoryTV18’s popular show OMG! Yeh Mera India sheds light on their revolutionary product -Nasofilter.
Launched in 2017, Nanoclean, a Delhi-based start-up, was founded by nanotechnologists Prateek Sharma, Tushar Vyas, and Jatin Kewlani. They have made revolutionary products for the common consumer that can assist them to breathe clean air both, at home and outdoors, at a very low cost. With the assistance of IIT Delhi professor and head of the Department of Textile and Fibre Engineering, Ashwini Kumar Agrawal, Nanoclean invented the acclaimed product’Nasofilter’–a tiny stick-on nasal filter that is a small and easy-to-wear biodegradable polymer. Setting itself apart from the large traditional face masks, Nasofilter is a transparent filter that covers your nostrils, is invisible from a distance, and can be worn for up to 24 hours. Priced at 10 rupees, the product is cost-effective and the nanotechnology filter blocks out PM 2.5 and other pollutants present in the air. In 2017, Nanoclean won the start-up National Award from the President of India for Nasofilter. Due to its breakthrough products, the start-up has also won multiple grants from the government including the Department of Science & Technology, and a recent joint-grant with IIT Delhi from the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
