RTI Activist Dev Ashish Bhattacharya recently questioned the MCC violation by the PM on the timing of declaration of 'Bharat Ratna' to Sachin Tendulkar and also registered his concern in a form of an application filed in EC on 17th November.
On Tuesday Mr. Bhattacharya has received reply of the Election Commission of India on the issue of the MCC violation by the PM on giving Bharat Ratna to Sachin Tendulkar during the ongoing state elections. The reply of the EC denotes the following:-
1. The declaration of the Bharat Ratna award is put in the category of normal functioning of the govt.
2. Sachin Tendulkar is confined to the boundaries of Maharashtra only by the EC for the purposes of determining the MCC violation.
3. Diminished the stature of Sachin Tendulkar to the cofines of Maharashtra.
4. Clearly hinted that had Sachin Tendulkar had his domicile in one of the poll going states then the MCC violation would have taken place.
