The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju has inaugurated the 63rd All India Police Aquatic & Cross Country Championship 2014-15 organized by Border Security Force (BSF), here today.
While addressing, Shri Kiren Rijiju has said that the country feel proud to have jawans like you and the efforts you put in, helps you to win the medals as well as to maintain the country’s security. He congratulated BSF for organizing the championship. Shri Rijiju also thanked for participating in the games along with performing their duties of security.
In the Championship, around 700 sportspersons in 24 teams from various Police Organisations of Central Armed Police Forces / States / UTs (Andhra Pradesh Police, Assam Rifle, BSF, Chhattisgarh Police, Chandigarh Police, CRPF, CISF, Gujrat Police, J & K Police, Jharkhand Police, Kerala Police, Maharasthra Police, Odisha Police, Punjab Police, Rajasthan Police, RPF, Tamil Nadu Police, Telangana Police, Tripura Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, Uttarakhand Police, Haryana Police, Madhya Pradesh Police and ITBP) are participating in the competition.
Proceedings began with an oath ceremony by all the participants in the presence of Chief Guest Shri Kiren Rijiju and Shri D K Pathak, IPS, Director General Border Security Force. Followed by an official declaration by the Chief Guest, wherein he addressed all the participants and motivated them to excel in their respective fields. The opening day was also witnessed with a spectacular synchronized and individual diving demonstration. The Chief Guest also released colourful balloons during the opening ceremony.
Since the time of its inception, Border Security Force has been in the lime light for its glorious record in the field of sports. The prevalent sports culture in the Force always inculcated the spirit of healthy competition among its Officers and Jawans. The encouragement of sports activities has borne fruits which is evident from the performance of BSF players in national as well as international events. In recognition to the outstanding performance, the BSF sportsmen have so far been awarded with Padamshree, Arjuna National Adventure awards.
