Japan has killed 456 people infected with Corona on Friday. This is a record of so many deaths in a single day. Thousands of people have died due to corona in the country in a month. So far 245542 people have been affected by corono in the country. 20720 new cases were registered on Friday against 18638 on Thursday.
Health officials said the number of infected people hospitalized with severe symptoms in Tokyo stood at 53, four more than on Thursday. The nationwide figure was 659, up nine from Thursday. In December 2022, Japan recorded a record 7688 deaths due to Covid, surpassing the high of 7329 recorded in August during the previous corona wave.
The death toll has risen sharply since November with the start of the eighth wave. The death toll from COVID-19 in Japan in the last three months is almost 16 times higher than the same period last year. In the four-month period from August 31 to December 27 this year, 40.8 per cent of those who died of Covid were over the age of 80.
The report noted that among those who died, the number of people aged 90 and above was 34.7 per cent and those above 70 were 17 per cent. People in these three age groups accounted for 92.4 per cent of the deaths. PLC/GT
