Consultative Committee of I&B meets to discussPublic Broadcasting System
Providing a holistic picture of Prasar Bharati to the Consultative Committee members, a detailed presentation on Doordarshan and All India Radio’s reach, genres of programmes as also functional constraints like shortage of manpower and requirement of assured funding was made for the benefit of the Members.
Members, cutting across the party lines, contributed whole heartedly to discussions on various issues like need for parity of salary structure among different categories of Prasar Bharati employees, lack of visibility of Urdu Channels, need to ensure proper reach of Doordarshan’s regional channels, etc. Members also suggested that keeping in mind the immense value of All India Radio and Doordarshan Archives, people should be allowed to make full use of these archives for research purposes. It was also suggested that Prasar Bharati should ensure that reservations for SC/ST/OBC are fully implemented.
The Members who attended the meeting today included Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Sh. C.M.Jatua, Dr. Anup Kumar Saha, Sh. Ramashankar Rajbhar, Sh. Shatrughan Sinha, Sh. Tapas Paul, Sh. Mohammed Adeed, Sh. Bharatkumar Raut, Sh. M.P.Achuthan, and Km. Saroj Pandey.
