New Delhi : As the Lok Sabha elections draw nearer, the Congress party is gearing up with full force, leaving no stone unturned in its preparations. The party has finalized a panel of contenders for all 29 Lok Sabha seats in the state, according to sources close to the matter. It is anticipated that by the end of this month, the party will declare the names of its candidates.

Strategic Approach Based on Assembly Election Results

This time around, the party has formulated its Lok Sabha election strategy in light of the outcomes of the assembly elections. There is optimism within the party that it will perform better in the Lok Sabha elections compared to the previous ones. With the conclusion of the assembly elections, the Congress has shifted its focus entirely towards the preparations for the Lok Sabha polls.

Diligent Selection of Contenders

Congress leaders have intensified their activities in all Lok Sabha constituencies, and now a panel comprising two to three names for each constituency has been crafted for ticket contention. The panel encompasses a diverse range of individuals, including senior party leaders, legislators, former legislators, participants from the 2023 assembly elections, as well as active grassroots workers who enjoy widespread acceptance.

Focus on Key Regions

In particular, panels have been formed for the four seats in the Vindhya region. Congress is meticulously preparing to finalize the names of individuals included in these panels, gathering feedback and opinions before making the final decisions. The same level of attention has been given to the four Lok Sabha seats in the Vindhya region.

Potential Candidates and Previous Performances

In Satna Lok Sabha seat, the names of Ajay Singh Rahul, former opposition leader, Siddharth Kushwaha, MLA from Satna, and Nilesh Chaturvedi, former MLA from Chitrakoot, have surfaced. Meanwhile, for the Rewa Lok Sabha seat, the discussion revolves around Ajay Mishra Baba, the current mayor, Abhay Mishra, MLA from Semaria, and Rajendra Sharma. In Sidhi Lok Sabha seat, Congress is contemplating fielding Ajay Singh Rahul, former opposition leader, and Kamleshwar Patel, former minister. For the Shahdol Lok Sabha seat, the names of Fundelal Marko, MLA from Pushprajgarh, Ramesh Singh, former contestant from Anuppur, and Narendra Singh Marawi, former contestant from Jaisinghnagar, are being considered.

Evaluating Potential Winners

The quest for winning candidates has narrowed down to a few select faces. Congress has identified individuals who can effectively represent their constituencies in the Lok Sabha. Interestingly, some of these individuals were unsuccessful in the 2023 assembly elections but are now being considered for Lok Sabha tickets.

Impending Announcements and Party Strategy

The party might announce the names of some Lok Sabha candidates by the end of February or the first week of March. It is speculated that Congress will announce candidates for those Lok Sabha seats where it has faced consecutive defeats in the past few elections. These include seats in the Vindhya region, such as Satna and Sidhi, where Congress has struggled to secure victories.

Congress Mission 2024

As Congress progresses with its mission for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, its strategy is becoming clearer. Whether the party will deploy seasoned leaders, legislators, or opt for fresh and active faces remains to be seen. The true test of Congress’s electoral strategy will unfold once the names of its Lok Sabha candidates are officially declared. For now, the panels of contenders, comprising a mix of experienced leaders and promising newcomers, reflect Congress’s meticulous approach towards selecting candidates who can lead the party to victory.
