Malegaon,
Launching a frontal attack on the state and central leaderships of the Congress party, Telangana MLA and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) senior leader Akbaruddin Owaisi Friday said his party’s growth in other parts of the country was mainly because of the inaction, double standard and hypocrisy of the India’s oldest political party.

“You have been in power for most of the time since independence. What you have done for Muslims in these many years is evident by the findings of Sachar Committee Report, Ranganath Mishra Commission Report and the likes. We are here to expose your double standard and hypocrisy towards Muslims”, Akbaruddin Owaisi said while addressing a public meeting on Malegaon’s Azeez Kallu Cricket Stadium Ground.

“This is because of your inaction that people are getting attracted towards the MIM”, he added.
He accused the Congress of using Muslims as mere vote bank, and doing nothing for the community except lip-service.

“You could have easily passed the Muslim reservation bill in the state assembly instead of an ordinance. But, you were not sincere on the issue and wanted to use it as a ploy in the election”, he said.

He also rejected the accusation by the Congress that the MIM has a secret dealing with the Bhartiya Janata Pary (BJP).

“Congress always comes with such kind of accusations whenever any party or leader tries to expose its dirty political game”, he said.

He said the MIM and its leaders will prefer going in exile and staying in jungles over tying up with the fascist and communal forces.

Urging the people of Malegaon to join the MIM, he said the party will stay here and emerge stronger despite the loss in the state election.

“In Byculla, population of minorities is 40%. But they elected MIM candidate Waris Pathan as their MLA. Malegaon with 80% minority population could not send the MIM candidate to the assembly. Despite the loss, I will work for your welfare. I will keep visiting Malegaon till I win the hearts of each one of you”, he said.

Akbaruddin Owaisi was in Malegaon Friday to lay the foundation stone of a school and health centre – a promise he had made in one of his speeches while campaigning in the city for the MIM candidate for the 2014 Maharashtra state elections.
The MIM, led by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, has a strong presence in Telangana. In an attempt to expand its base in other parts of the country, the party participated in Nanded civic elections and won 13 seats.

Encouraged by the victory, the MIM fielded candidates in the 2014 Maharashtra state elections and won two seats.

The party is now planning to contest the Uttar Pradesh state election due in 2017.
