Bhopal,

Alleging that the main opposition party of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh states, Congress, had surrendered before BJP, the  Bahujan Samaj Party National President and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Ms. Mayawati  called upon the workers here today to create atmosphere on the pattern of Uttar Pradesh in both these states to gain power in the larger interests of people. Addressing here 1-day ‘workers’ conference’ of MP, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Orissa at the Jamboori Maidan, the BSP supremo said that MP had a special place in the politics of the country, but the Congress Party had surrendered before the BJP and owing to it the BJP had been ruling here for several years. Congress and BJP both had similar anti-poor and pro-capitalist policies which benefited the rich only. Therefore, the policies formulated by these parties were not going to benefit the poor and exploited sections of the society. Their policies were encouraging poverty, unemployment, inflation and corruption only. So, the BSP would have to emerge as an effective alternative in these states specially M.P., as it had emerged in Uttar Pradesh. The father and founder of BSP, Sri Kanshiram ji had put a lot of efforts in M.P. She urged the party workers to make serious efforts to strengthen the party organisation and increase the mass following, so that the BSP can gain power in M.P. and provide good atmosphere to the dalits, backwards and religious minorities which included Muslims, Sikh, Bauddh, Parsis, Christians, poor people of upper caste, women, students and people employed in various professions.

Hon’ble Ms. Mayawati ji said that all the sections of the country had been badly affected by poverty, unemployment and skyrocketing inflation, but the Congress-led Central Government was not concerned about it and its leaders were indulging in petty politics only, while the BSP Government of Uttar Pradesh had provided relief to the people of the State through its own efforts. Lakhs of temporary and permanent employment opportunities had been provided and the tax rates had been reduced to give some relief to the people from the inflation. The woman heads of 31,00,000 very poor families of Sarvasamaj were being provided an assistance of Rs. 400 p.m. through Uttar Pradesh Mukhyamantri Mahamaya Gharib Arthik Madad Yojana. They have been provided an amount of Rs. 2400 for six months under this scheme. In future more such families would be benefited under this scheme.

About 80 crore people of the country were forced to subsist on a meagre sum of Rs. 20 a day only, therefore the hike in petrol prices effected by Congress-led Central Government was anti-people. The BSP had already launched a country-wide mass movement to oppose it. It had initiated the drive by holding demonstrations at all 72 district HQs of Uttar Pradesh on 31 May 2011. She directed the unit in-charges of MP, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Orissa State to hold similar demonstrations against the anti-people policies of the Central Government in their respective states.

Earlier, Hon’ble National President of BSP Ms. Mayawati ji was accorded warm welcome on her arrival here at the Jamboori Maidan. The party workers raised slogans in her support. Prominent among those, who welcomed her included central coordinators of MP, Rajasthan and Haryana states and Rajya Sabha M.P. Mr. Rajaram and Mr. Dharma Prakash Bharti (MLC), Central Coordinator of Chhattisgarh state Mr. Sewaram and Coordinator of Orissa state Mr. Dharamveer Singh Ashok, Mr. Rampal and Mr. Murari Singh Peshkar etc. Before the address of the Chief Guest, the artists presented cultural programme and sang missionary songs to welcome her.
