Collective efforts needed to check terrorism : Jai Ram Thakur

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while lauding the endeavours of the Punjab Kesari Group Newspapers for providing a helping hand to the families affected due to terrorism and other natural calamities, said that besides upholding the highest standards in professionalism, daily Punjab Kesari was also a trendsetter in effectively sharing its social responsibilities. Chief Minister was speaking on the occasion of Saheed Pariwar Fund function organized by Punjab Kesari Group, at Jallandhar today.

Shri Thakur said that the Group during all these years has valiantly stood against terrorism and made supreme sacrifices during its fight against terrorism. He said that since terrorism and drug peddling were an area of major concern universally, thus collective and comprehensive steps were required to curb this menace to save the humanity. He said that it was the need of the hour that Punjab, Himachal and Jammu-Kashmir work on an inclusive and joint strategy to tackle the issue of drug paddling and terrorism.

Chief Minister said that it was heartening to see politicians from different ideology and political affiliation coming on one platform during this function, with a single aim, that is, to show solidarity with the families affected due to terrorism. He said that it was the need of the hour that we all join hands to fight together against various social evils. He said that it was duty of every responsible citizen that he makes his contribute to help the suffering humanity.

Later, Chief Minister visited the Academy of Shri Daleep Singh Rana, better known as The Great Khali in WWE wrestling at Jallandhar. Shri Khali hails from Sirmour district in Himachal Pradesh.

Appreciating the efforts of The Great Khali in promoting sports and physical fitness amongst the youth, Chief Minister said that Khali has earned the name in international wrestling arena and brought laurels to the State and the country.
