
A high-level delegation comprising 18 CII members, led by Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, took part in a roadshow organised at Hotel The Oberoi in Dubai today. The delegation conducted an investors’ roadshow to showcase strengths and plethora of investment opportunities Punjab has to offer.
“The objective of conducting this outreach seminar in Dubai is our endeavour to reach out to you. We wish to offer a great platform to the investors who are exploring investment opportunities in India and to convince them as to why Punjab is the best investment destination in the country,” said the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
“Government of Punjab is committed to enhance the industrial momentum and develop a robust industrial ecosystem so as to create more employment opportunities in the State,” he added.
“Mohali shall emerge as the economic hub of Punjab through the proposed ‘Edu City’, which shall have an international-level educational facilities right from the school to research level. An ‘IT City’, which shall house leading IT companies, besides, a ‘Medi City’, including world-class multi specialty hospitals, medical colleges, research institutes,” he shared.
Vice-Chairman, CII Punjab State Council, Gurmeet Singh Bhatia said, “The growing India-UAE economic and commercial relations have contributed to the stability of a rapidly diversifying and deepening bilateral relationship between the two countries and this visit will further give it a fillip.”
“The Government of Punjab has recently announced a ‘high-tech cycle valley’ on 300 acres of land near Ludhiana and also a 200 acre Industrial Manufacturing Cluster at Rajpura in Patiala district-both of which are parts of the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor announced by the Government of India. These steps will further help attract investments to the state and thereby boost industrial development in Punjab,” said CII Mohali Zonal Council Chairman and Chairman Pritika Group of Industries RS Nibber.
Senior Government officials present at the roadshow highlighted that Punjab also has a highly attractive policy for the food processing industries given the inherent advantages of the state in this sector. A food processing cluster anchored by ITC is coming up along with a private food processing park in Kapurthala. Another Mega Food Processing Park is being developed by Punjab Agro Industries Corporation (a state PSE) in Ludhiana.
Post the investors’ seminar, various B2G meetings were conducted between the visiting delegation from Punjab and local industry representatives in UAE to explore the possible mutual collaborations and to extend an invitation to the Investors to partner in the growth story of Punjab.
The delegation also comprises ministers, political representatives, senior officers from Government of Punjab and top business leaders of Punjab.
