Washington : The Biden government raises alarms as they investigate a potential Chinese virus infiltrating the US military network, posing a serious threat to critical infrastructure. Get the latest updates on this cybersecurity concern.

The Biden government is looking for a Chinese virus in the US military network. The government fears that China has fitted a computer code (virus) into the US military’s power grid, communication system and water supply network. Which can stall their operation during war.

The Biden government fears that this code of China could be in the network of their military bases not only in America, but around the world. The US official said that having China’s code in the military’s network is like a time bomb. They say that this will affect not only the operation of the army, but also the homes and businesses that are connected to the infrastructure of the army.

Ever since the Chinese virus has been detected in the US military network. Since then, the rounds of meetings are going on in the Situation Room of the White House. Senior army officers, intelligence chiefs and national security officials are attending these meetings. The White House issued a statement. However, there was no mention of China in it. National Security Council spokesman Adam Hodge had said – The government is trying its best to save America’s important infrastructure rail, water system, aviation without stopping.

This is not the first time China has been accused of cyber attack. Questions have been raised on China on many occasions regarding the cyber attack in India. In response to a question in the Rajya Sabha in 2015, the Information and Broadcasting Minister had told that China ranks first among the countries from which India’s cyber security is at risk. Cyfirma, an agency working on cyber threats, had told a report dated 24 June 2020 that the threat to India’s cyber security has increased over the past several days. Hacker groups from China are targeting big institutions in India. Chinese hacker group ATP 10 cyber-attacked Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech, both the companies making India’s corona vaccine.

Academic discussion of cyber warfare began in China in the year 1990. At that time it was called information warfare. The US Army had achieved great success in the Gulf War, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq on the basis of high technologies. The Chinese army was greatly affected by this.

China realized at that time that it could not adequately defend itself without changing the forms of warfare. That’s why the role of information technology becomes very important in war. In 1993, two years after the Gulf War, the Chinese Military Strategic Guideline talked about winning local wars through modern technology, so that its experience could be useful during the war with other countries. In 2004, a year after the Iraq War, the Chinese Military Strategic Guidelines were changed again. Now it was said to win the local war under information warfare. For the first time in the year 2013, the Chinese military publicly included cyber warfare in its strategy. Its first mention is found in China’s The Science of Military Strategy.
