Children from across India come up with solutions to digital problems to #StaySafeOnline at digital safEthon and carnival
INVC NEWS New Delhi, 30 students from 14 states worked together to develop innovative solutions for online safety at a safEthon (hackathon) organized by UNICEF and Learning Links Foundation together with Google India and the Digital Empowerment Foundation. Following launch of the UNICEF Flagship report State of the World’s Children 2017: Children in a digital world, the children worked on practical solutions to the issues they face online. Meeting for the first time the children have formed teams from different states and each group has an IT expert mentor, including from Google, to assist them in further exploring their digital skills. The children’s ideas and tech solutions were showcased at a Digital Wellness Carnival at the National Bal today. There they were joined by other child online champions who shared their digital innovations as well as cyber security and online safety experts, bloggers and media personalities who shared their ideas towards empowering more children, especially girls, in the digital world. The Digital Wellness Carnival was officially opened by UNICEF Representative Dr Yasmin Ali Haque.
