To provide hassle free and timely citizen services to the people of Punjab, the complete citizen service delivery would be made online across the State of Punjab. This online provisioning of citizen centric services would minimize public contacts with various offices, eliminate corruption, and enhance efficiency of administration and delivery of services. The complete online service delivery, backend computerization of various services and progress of all other e-Governance projects was reviewed in the Executive Committee meeting of Punjab State e-Governance Society chaired by Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal, Chief Secretary, Punjab.

Chief Secretary was apprised that backend digitization under e-District project and online service delivery is on track and 20 high volume citizen services have already been made operational in all 22 districts of the State. In these services, the complete backend workflow is automated and all the documents of citizen applications are scanned in the Suwidha Centers and are forwarded to the concerned department electronically. The services include various certificates, pensions’ services, Arms license services etc. The final certificate is digitally signed and the digital repositories of all certificates are created for future usage.  The Backend digitization of all 42 services under current scope shall be completed in next 4 weeks.

Further 20 citizen services were also available on Punjab State portal for the citizens to apply online while sitting at home under State Service Delivery Gateway project. The citizen could make the statutory and other fees payment through payment gateway available on the State portal. The final certificate shall be delivered to the citizen in his inbox and also through post.

Chief Secretary stressed that department should aggressively follow up for the funds for  backend digitization and portal development of 200 more services with Government of India under Digital India scheme. Further 139 directorate offices in Chandigarh and SAS Nagar have been connected with Punjab Wide Area Network (PAWAN) paving the way for implementation of projects like e-Office, Integrated Financial Management System, Integrated Workflow Management System.Chief Secretary directed all the project managers to expedite the implementation of the e-Governance projects so that the citizens can be provided time bound and hassle free services.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Jagpal Singh Sandhu, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Home,  Mr. Karan Avtar Singh, IAS, Financial Commissioner Revenue, Mr. D P Reddy, IAS , Principal Secretary, Finance, Mr. Raj Kamal Choudhar, IAS, Secretary Food and Civil Supplies, Mr. R K Verma, IAS Secretary, Governance Reforms, Mr. Vikas Pratap Singh, IAS, Secretary Personnel and other officials from Department of Governance Reforms.
