The festival of Chhath Puja will be celebrated on 30 October 2022. Especially this festival is more popular among North Indians. This festival begins on the Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha and ends on Saptami.

This festival is celebrated in every household. Come let’s know 7 special things on this.
1. Who is worshipped: In Chhath Puja, there is a practice of worshiping Sun God and Chhathi Maiya and there is a law to offer them Arghya.

2. Suryadev: According to the weapons, there is another Suryadev who is also seen directly by connecting with the Sun God. Sun God’s father’s name is Maharishi Kashyap and mother’s name is Aditi. His wife’s name is Sangya, who is the daughter of Vishwakarma. From the noun, a son named Yama and a daughter named Yamuna, and from his second wife Chhaya, he had a great son named Shani.

3. Chhath Maiya: Along with the Sun God, Chhath Maiya is also worshiped in Chhath Puja, which is also called Shashthi Devi. Mata Shashti Devi is considered to be the Manas daughter of Lord Brahma. She is also called Maa Katyayani, who is worshiped on the Shashthi Tithi in Navratri. Shashti Devi Maa is called Chhath Maiya in the local language in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. The worship of the sixth mother is also mentioned in the Brahmavaivarta Purana.

4. How many days Chhath Puja is celebrated: Chhath Puja and fasting starts from the Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Shukla of Hindu month Kartik month and fast is observed on Shashthi Tithi and ends on Saptami on the second day.

5. What to do in Chhath Puja: On the first day, take bath i.e. cleanliness and pure vegetarian food intake is followed, on the second day Kharna means fasting for the whole day and in the evening jaggery kheer, ghee greased roti and fruits After this, Arghya is offered to the Sun God on the evening of Sandhya Shashthi, and is duly worshiped, then many types of things are offered. At the same time, Chhathi Maiya is worshiped with prasad filled soup. After the worship of Sun God, songs of the sixth mother are sung in the night and the fast story is heard and finally on the second ie the last day of Usha Arghya i.e. Saptami, before sunrise on the morning of Saptami, Arghya is offered to the rising sun. After the puja, the fast is completed by drinking sherbet of raw milk and eating some prasad, which is called Paran or Parana.

6. Why do Chhath Puja: Women fast for Chhath Puja to protect their children and to ask for the blessings of happiness and peace of the whole family. According to the belief, Chhath Maiya gives a boon to childless children on this day.

7. Chhath Katha: According to the legend, King Priyavrata, the son of Manu Swayambhuva, had no children. Maharishi Kashyap performed a yajna, then Queen Malini gave birth to a son, but that child was born dead. Then Mata Shashti appeared and introducing herself, she put her hand blessing the dead child, which made him alive.
