The Department of Environment, UT Administration celebrated “Eco-friendly Holi” in campus of Govt. Sr. Sec. School,46,here today. The Function was be attended by about 200 women members of ‘ Rupantaran” Club. Ms. Linette Vas Sharma, W/o Shri K. K Sharma, Advisor to Administrator , UT Chandigarh was the Chief Guest and Ms. Pallavi Singh, W/o Shri V.K. Singh, Finance Secretary, UT Chandigarh was the Guest of Honour on the occassion. In her address , Ms. Linette Vas Sharma appreciated the initiative taken by ‘ Rupantaran Club’ for such noble cause of celebrating Holi in traditional and Environmental friendly manner. She informed that learning through songs, music and this kind of function has lasting impacts on students as compared to traditional way of teaching. Pallavi Singh exhorted all present that this kind of celebration shall be able to convey a message to all that we should not celebrate Holi in such a manner which has led people to move away from participation because of chemical colours etc being used. Water conservation is another important theme that we all should keep in mind and hence ‘ Dry Holi’ through Herbal colours is the best way to celebrate Holi.
