With a view to provide better loan facilities in the rural areas and to implement the financial inclusion plan of Government of India, Central Bank of India organised a Mega Credit Camp at Shahabad Markanda, under District Kurukshetra. The Camp was inaugurated by Shri R.B. Gupta, General Manager (Priority Sector) from Corporate Office of the Bank at Mumbai. He said that Central Bank of India is dedicated to bring rural masses into the formal banking sector which will benefit the masses in a big way as also add a big boost to the economy. He further informed that Bank has not only achieved the targets of Priority Sector given by Reserve Bank of India but has also surpassed it. He also honored five Branch Managers of local areas for their excellence in advancing to borrowers under Priority Sector.
In his address to the farmers, Shri KK Taneja Field General Manager of the Bank said that no economy can move from emerging to emerged status without ensuring that all its citizens are part of the financial mainstream and he said Bank is committed to implement the government plan of financial inclusion. He announced to enhance the agri-loan facilities to persons residing in rural areas to uplift their standard of living. 5 Credit Camps at other Places in the Zone were also arranged and total Rs.201 crores were sanctioned
Dr V.N. Pathak, Senior Regional Manager of Chandigarh Region announced that Bank gives loans to Commission Agents at very competitive rate of interest @ 11.25% p.a. and appealed to open their current accounts with Central Bank of India & also thanked the customers/borrowers. He further announced such credit camps would be organised in near future at other centres also
