Haridwar, Kashi : Kamika Ekadashi in 2023 is observed on Thursday, July 13th. Here are the auspicious dates and times related to Kamika Ekadashi:

  • Ekadashi Tithi begins: July 12, 2023, at 05:59 PM
  • Ekadashi Tithi ends: July 13, 2023, at 06:24 PM
  • Paran (breaking of the fast) time: July 14, 2023, from 05:32 AM to 08:18 AM
  • Dwadashi end time on Paran Tithi: July 14, 2023, at 07:17 PM

It is important to break the fast before the end of Dwadashi Tithi, preferably after sunrise. If the Dwadashi Tithi ends before sunrise, the Ekadashi fast should be observed only after sunrise. Breaking the fast after the completion of Dwadashi Tithi is considered inauspicious.

During Ekadashi, fasting should not be observed during Hari Vasar, which is the first one-fourth period of Dwadashi Tithi. It is recommended to break the fast early in the morning and avoid doing so during midday. If, for some reason, one is unable to break the fast in the morning, it can be done after midday.

In some cases, Ekadashi fasting is observed for two consecutive days. In such instances, members of a smart-family should observe the fast on the first day. The second day of the fortnight is known as the “Second Fortnight.” Sannyasis, widows, and devotees aspiring for salvation should fast on the day of Duji Ekadashi. When Ekadashi fasting spans two days, Duji Ekadashi and Vaishnav Ekadashi occur on the same day.

Ardent devotees seeking the love and affection of Lord Vishnu are advised to observe the Ekadashi fast on both days.

Please note that the above information is based on general guidelines and may vary based on regional customs and traditions.
