CBI registers a case against then additional secretary medical council of india

medical council of indiaINVC NEWS New Delhi, The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against six accused including then Additional Secretary, Medical Council of India, New Delhi; then Assistant, Medical Council of India, New Delhi; a Chairman of an Educational & Charitable Trust, Tamilnadu; Ex-Principal of a private Medical College Hospital, Sambalpur; two other private persons and unknown others U/s 120-B/420 of IPC & 7,8,12 & 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of  PC Act, 1988. It is alleged that the accused persons entered into criminal conspiracy with some unknown persons during the year 2013, and the said private Medical College Hospital under Educational Charitable Trust, Tamilnadu was granted permission by Medical Council of India, flouting the laid down norms/regulations of MCI for admission into first year MBBS Courses for the Academic Year 2013-14. Searches were conducted at 9 different places viz. 2 places in Odisha(Bhawanipatna & Sambalpur); 4 places in Delhi (Dwarka & Nazafgarh) and 3 places in Tamilnadu (Vadadangulam & Nagercoil) at the official & residential premises of the accused persons. During search, Cash of Rs.5.5 lakhs (approx); 2 kg gold(approx); 25 kg silver (approx) along with documents of 3 properties in the name of family & relatives of then Additional Secretary were recovered. Certain incriminating documents from Bhawanipatna i.e.Medical College and other accused were recovered. Further investigation is continuing.
