The Central Bureau of Investigation has today filed Charge Sheet before the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Thalassery(Kerala) against 19 accused persons U/s 120(B), 143, 147, 148, 324, 307, 302, 149, 201, 202, 212 of IPC ; section 15(1)(a)(i) r/w 16(a) & 19 of the UAPA Act and section 3 & 5 of the Explosive Substances Act in a case relating to alleged murder of Shri. Elamthottathil Manoj, then office bearer of a private organization.
>CBI had registered the case on 5-11-2014 on the request of State Government and taken over the investigation in Crime No 780/2014 of Kathirur Police Station, Thalassery , Kannur(Kerala), relating to the alleged murder of Sh. Elamthottathil Manoj, an office bearer of a private organization, by hurling bomb and inflicting knife injuries, on 1-9-2014, while he was travelling in Maruti Omni van through Kathirur - Ukkas Motta road in Kathirur Amsam (Panchayat), by a group of workers of a Political Party under the leadership of one of the accused. In the said ghastly incident,a co-rider with Sh. Elamthottathil Manoj, also suffered knife and blast injuries. Elamthottathil Manoj had allegedly suffered 17 cut injuries and had also suffered multiple small abrasions & contusions due to the blast. It was further alleged that after the murder of Sh. Elamthottathil Manoj, the accused persons had also hurled bombs to generate terror amongst the public in the area.
After thorough investigation, CBI filed a Charge Sheet today.
The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
