CBI arrests Joint GM, NPCC and four others in a bribery case of Rs. 15 Lakhs. : Search yielded recovery of cash Rs. One Crore (Approx)

INVC,, Delhi,, The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Joint General Manager, NPCC Dehradun for accepting a bribe of Rs. 15 lakhs from three Employees of a Ghaziabad based contractor. The Ghaziabad based contractor and his three Employees have also been arrested for giving bribe to accused Joint GM, NPCC. The CBI has registered a case against the General Manager, NPCC, Faridabad; his brother (Ghaziabad based contractor); Joint G.M., NPCC, Dehradun; Director of a Hyderabad based company; three other private persons and unknown others. It is alleged that GM, NPCC, Faridabad abused his official position and entered into a criminal conspiracy with other accused persons and unauthorisedly released mobilization advance of Rs. 16.71 crores in favour of a Mumbai based Company, which was subsequently transferred to the Hyderabad based Company in a Rs. 200 crores contract pertaining to construction of a road at Leh (J&K) awarded to NPCC by the Ministry of Home Affairs. It has been further alleged that NPCC has awarded the said work to a Mumbai based Company which further subcontracted the same to the Hyderabad based private Company. The accused director of Hyderabad based Company paid the bribe amount to the Joint GM NPCC, Dehradun at the instance of GM NPCC, Faridabad through the accused Ghaziabad based contractor. The accused contractor asked his three employees to deliver an amount of Rs. 15 lakhs to Joint GM, NPCC at Dehradun, who was in-charge of the said road construction project. CBI caught them while giving and taking the bribe amount. The searches at the residential and office premises of the Joint GM NPCC Dehradun yielded recovery of Cash Rs.59.94 Lakhs approx.); Bank deposits and investments -Rs.23.60 Lakhs(approx.); besides Skoda Laura car. The searches at the residence of Ghaziabad based contractor yielded recovery of Cash-Rs.44.4 lakhs (approx) and incriminating documents pertaining to the case. He was also arrested. Further investigation is continuing.
