The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner, Employees Provident Fund Organization, Panaji, Goa for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000/- from the complainant. The complainant was proprietor of a Goa based firm engaged in the business of Manpower supplies to different companies.
The case was registered against the accused u/s 7 of PC Act 1988 on the basis of complaint. It was alleged that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs. One lakh from the complainant for releasing an attachment order of her two shops which was pending for payment of provident fund dues and also subsequently reducing the amount of the damages/interest dues payable to the EPFO. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding & accepting Rs. 25,000/- as an installment of bribe from the complainant.
During the searches at the official & residential premises of the accused, a cash of Rs. 92,000/- and documents relating to his investments in three flats & shares etc were recovered.
