CBI ARRESTS AN ABSCONDING ACCUSED IN A CASE RELATING TO IMPERSONATION

New Delhi, The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an absconding accused in a case relating to impersonating as Technical Advisor to then Prime Minister of India. A case was registered on a complaint dated 02.08.99 alleging that said accused impersonated as Technical Advisor to the Prime Minister of India, New Delhi and had cheated complainant to the tune of Rs.15,000/- for getting him a U.N. Assignment. Investigation had revealed that said accused had allegedly approached the complainant on his own and allured him for a UN Assignment and demanded Rs.60,000/- from him for processing charges of application for U.N. Assignment. Further, he had demanded Rs.15,000/- immediately to recommend his name for UN Assignment. Complainant had paid Rs. 15000/- on 26.03.98. The accused wrote down his fictitious telephone number and address in the diary of complainant showing himself as Technical Advisor to the Prime Minister. It was also revealed that at that time, the accused was staying in the Govt. Guest House at Ahmedabad as a Professor of IIT. After completion of investigation, Charge sheet was filed against the accused U/s 419 & 420 of IPC. The efforts to apprehend the absconding accused were continued. After meticulous planning, the accused was arrested. The arrested accused is being produced today before the Competent Court at Ahmedabad.
