The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested a Sub Inspector working at Police Station Sector 3, Chandigarh for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.15,000/- from the complainant.
A case was registered U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 on a complaint. The complainant has alleged that two FIRs & one DDR were registered against him & others in Police Station Sector 3, Chandigarh. The said Sub Inspector investigating all these matters had demanded bribe for Rs.20,000/- from the complainant and threatened him to take strict action &also to convert the DDR into FIR. On the request of the complainant to reduce the bribe amount, the Sub Inspector agreed to accept Rs.15,000/-.
CBI laid a trap and the Sub Inspector was caught while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. 15,000/- from the complainant. Searches are being conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused person.
The arrested accused will be produced tomorrow in the Competent Court at Chandigarh.
