CBI arrests a special metropolitan magistrate of municipal corporation of delhi for accepting an alleged bribe of rs.25,000/-
INVC NEWS New Delhi, The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested a Special Metropolitan Magistrate, Central Zone (Littering), Municipal Corporation of Delhi(MCD), Delhi for demanding & accepting an alleged bribe of Rs. 25,000/- from the complainant. A case was registered U/s 7 & 13(2) r/w 13(1) (d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegations that the Special Metropolitan Magistrate had challaned the complainant, an owner of a shop in Alaknanda Market, New Delhi during the course of inspection on 10.08.2015 in the said market. The complainant was subsequently directed to appear in the court, wherein the Special Metropolitan Magistrate allegedly demanded illegal gratification of Rs.60,000/- from the complainant for settling the challan. The bribe was reduced to Rs. 25,000/- during negotiations. CBI laid a trap and the Special Metropolitan Magistrate was caught red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.25,000/- from the complainant. Searches are being conducted today at residential premises of the accused.
