Captain should not play petty politics on Khalsa University issue : Majithia
INVC NEWS Majitha, Information and Public Relations and Revenue Minister Punjab Bikram Singh Majithia today asked Punjab Pradesh Congress Chief Captain Amrinder Singh to shed away from playing political card on the issue of proposed Khalsa University for his own petty political interests. Giving a befitting reply to allegations levied by PPCC chief while disbursing development grants of Rs 25 Lakh at village Kotla Sultan, Mr. Majhithia said that Captain should spell atleast one instance where Majithia family has ever used presitigious institution Khalsa College for its own interests. “Actually Captain and his party has no issue to raise, thus, he is just trying to squeeze blood from turnip”, he added. Mr. Majithia said that some of the private universities had secretly promised Congress leadership to fund their election campaign and under this hidden agends Captain Amrinder Singh was playing devastating role to block the path of high education for the youth of Majha by opposing Khalsa University. He said that the decisive victory of Khadoor Sahib has given a clear mandate in favour of SAD-BJP government and the destructive forces have been given a befitting reply by the electorate of Khadoor Sahib Constituency. He said that AAP was also playing false propaganda by terming Punjab as economically bankrupt, whereas, the reality is that that the Punjab Government has ensured unprecedented development particularly in the field of infrastructure by laying a strong network of 4/6 lane roads across the Punjab, allocating development funds for the inclusive urban and rural development, annual power subsidy to the tune of Rs 5600 Cr for farmers, continuous dispersal of grants under various welfare schemes like Shagun Schemes, Mai Bhago Scheme and various health insurance schemes besides annual disbursal of Rs 400 Cr for flagship atta dal scheme. Rs 900 Cr. have also been allocated to provide social security pensions. He said that the economy of the Punjab is strong enough and there is no dearth of funds for welfare and development initiatives. Mr. Majithia was honoured on this occasion by SGPC member Jath. Santokh Singh Samra and village panchayat. Prominent amongst others Major Shivi, Jodh Singh, district president Youth Akali Dal, Prof. Sarchand Singh and Gagandeep Singh Bhakna were also present on this occasion.
