Chandigarh,

Reiterating the resolve of the state government to get its legitimate share of river waters through the Sutlej Yamuna Link (Canal), the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, today said that until the state got its rightful share, equitable water supply would be ensured right up to the tail-ends through canal water to strengthen the irrigation system in the state.

An irrigation project costing Rs 112 crore would be implemented in a phased manner to make available water in tail-end villages of Sirsa district, the Chief Minister announced while addressing a mammoth “Jiye Jawan Jiye Kisan” rally in Mandi Dabwali.

The first phase of the project would start with remodeling of the Bhakhra Main Branch (BMB) and about 30 villages of the district would directly benefit from this project. Sufficient irrigation water would be made available to the farmers in the district.

Mr Manohar Lal announced that pending claims amounting to Rs 200 crore of farmers of Bhiwani and Sirsa districts on account of crop damage due to the attack of while fly would be released within ten days. Necessary instructions have been issued in this regard.

He also announced that sub-tehsil Goriwala would be accorded the status of tehsil and said that development works costing Rs 70 crore would be executed in the villages of Mandi Dabwali Assembly constituency.

Launching a scathing attack on the Opposition parties for describing BJP as an inexperienced party, he said, “During the last about four years, it has been proved that we are running a better government than them. We have been able to keep a tab on corruption and works which were undertaken at a cost of Rs 100 crore earlier are now being done for Rs 85 crore.”

Today, BJP is a populist party having government in 22 states of the country, said the Chief Minister claiming that it would win all the ten Lok Sabha seats in Haryana, and also form government in the state by winning 70 seats in the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha elections.

He appealed to the people to introspect who are their real well- wishers and give wholehearted support to the BJP in the elections. Be it the state government or the Central Government, there are no charges of corruption against any MLA or minister. Instead of asking us about development works, the Congress and the INLD should tell what they have done for the state during their tenures.

The Chief Minister said after taking the reins of the state government in 2014, we have changed the rule of Kharchi and Parchi (money and approach) by eliminating the system of corruption, middlemen and hooliganism.

Today, children of even farmers and labourers are getting government jobs in various departments without any approach. The present state government has ensured uniform development of all parts of the state without any discrimination. The MSP of cotton has been increased by Rs 1300 and of paddy by Rs 200 which is step forward toward realizing the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi’s vision of doubling the farmers income by 2022. He also recalled the contribution of former Deputy Prime Minister, Ch. Devi Lal, to the farming community.

While cautioning the drug addicts and those involved in illegal trade of drugs, the Chief Minister advised them to stay away from drugs otherwise strict action would be taken against them.  “I recently convened a meeting of Chief Ministers of different states to devise an effective strategy to deal with the drug menace in northern states”, he added.
