BJP to organize Jan Sankalp Yatra to counter Bharat Jodo Yatra

Karnataka’s ruling BJP Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Central Parliamentary Board member and former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa will organize Jan Sankalp Yatra to counter the Rahul Gandhi-led India Jodo Yatra.

The BJP is planning to involve 50,000 party workers and common people for the yatra, which will start from Gillesugu village in Raichur district of the state.

The party has chalked out a strategy to take maximum credit for increasing the reservation for SCs and STs. The organizers are planning a mega felicitation program for Chief Minister Bommai in Raichur during the visit.

The yatra will continue till December 25. A separate yatra will also be taken out under the leadership of state in-charge Arun Singh, state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah will visit Raichur on Monday and hold a press conference to avoid possible damage to the ruling BJP regarding goodwill among people for the Bharat Jodo Yatra. He will also hold meetings with party leaders.

After the completion of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka, the Congress is also preparing to take out three separate padyatras in the state. The focus will be on irrigation, border issues and development. The leaders want to make their inroads among the people of all the assembly constituencies.

Another major party, the JD(S), will begin the Pancharatna Yatra in the state on November 1. Political parties are gearing up for the upcoming assembly elections to be held in 2023. The ruling BJP wants to retain power on the Hindutva agenda while the opposition Congress relies on anti-incumbency. The JD(S) wants to win as many seats as possible to be the kingmaker. PLC/GT
