Shri Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Haryana laid the foundation stone of a state-of-the-art Convention Centre at Flamingo Tourist Complex, Hisar. The ceremony was presided over by Shri Ram Kishan Fouji, Chief Parliamentary Secretary while Smt. Savitri Jindal, MLA, Hisar and Shri Chakrvrty Sharma, Chairman, Haryana Tourism Corporation, graced the occasion. Shri Vijai Vardhan, Principal Secretary, Tourism Department, Haryana, Mrs Sumita Misra, Managing Director, Haryana Tourism and Shri M.L. Kaushik, Deputy Commissioner, Hisar along with officers of District Administration, Hisar were present at the foundation stone laying ceremony. On this occasion, Shri Bhupinder Singh Hooda, stated that the state government in continuation of its efforts for promotion of Convention Tourism has approved an amount of Rs 714.39 lacs for the construction of the Convention Centre at Flamingo Tourist Complex, Hisar. The Convention Centre will be centrally air conditioned and its covered area will be 26,503 sq ft spanning both ground and first floors. It is expected to be completed in a period of two years. This Convention Centre will consist of facilities of a big hall (area 12,000 sq ft.), three bedrooms, kitchen, two public toilets, parking for 100 vehicles. It will have the capacity for 900 to 1000 persons. Sh. Hooda further informed that the State Government has provided Rs. 25.30 crores for tourism promotion, renovation and up-gradation of the facilities during the year 2013-14. Shri Ram Kishan Fouji, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Tourism Department, Haryana stated that the construction work of 20 new rooms, Party Hall, kitchen and public toilets etc at the Flamingo Tourist Complex, Hisar at a cost of Rs. 523.00 lacs is in full swing and is expected to be completed by December, 2014. Shri Chakrvrty Sharma, Chairman, Haryana Tourism Corporation Ltd. informed that the construction work of the Convention Centre at Red Bishop, Panchkula is at an advanced stage and is likely to be completed by December,2013. The state government has allotted two acres of land at Red Bishop Tourist Complex, Panchkula and funds amounting to Rs 7.21 crores have been sanctioned for this purpose, including the Central financial assistance of Rs 5.00 crores. Sh. Vijai Vardhan, Principal Secretary to Government Haryana, Tourism Department informed that Haryana Tourism is adding new facilities at its Tourist Complexes at Ambala, Bahadurgarh, Pipli, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Karnal, Rai, Pehowa, Sohna, Faridabad, Dharuhera, Bhiwani and Mansa Devi. Also, new buildings are coming up at State Institutes of Hotel Management in Faridabad and Yamunanagar. Sumita Misra, Managing Director, Haryana Tourism Corporation Ltd stated that an earnest effort is being made to develop world-class tourism infrastructure, both in public and private sectors across the State. She further informed that 8th Pinjore Heritage Festival, a signature annual event organised by Haryana Tourism at the splendid Pinjore Gardens is around the corner. This year, the Pinjore Heritage Festival that celebrates the rich cultural and historical tradition of the region, will be held on 30th November & 1st December, 2013 at the Pinjore Gardens. The main attractions of the Festival will be the Crafts Bazaar, Food Court, Competitions, Day Performances and Evening Recitals.
