Bhopal Archdiocese celebrated Mother Mary’s birthday

Christians around Bhopal  celebrated Mother Mary’s birthday  with utmost joy and devotion the feast of nativity or simply  the birthday of Mother Mary of our savior Jesus Christ as well as our heavenly mother. Mother Mary, the mother of Christ, was a Jewish woman of Nazareth in Galilee. She married Joseph and accompanied him to Bethlehem, where Jesus was born. Dr Leo Cornelio,  Archbishop of Bhopal says“ Mother Mary is the conduit to God and God always identifies with the poor. Our message to the world is that service to fellow human beings is service to God.  The Roman Catholic faith has assimilated local cultural practices which has made it more open for people of all faiths to be a part of it.  Another reason to rejoice on this feast is the harvest festival as well.In celebrating the nativity of Mary, Christians anticipate the incarnation and birth of her divine son, and give honour to the mother of our lord and
savior.The regular churchgoers attached to Church in  Assumption Church, Asha Niketan , Infant Jesus Church, Kalpana Nagar   and Jahangirabad , Bhopal took out a grand procession of the statue of  Mother Mary that was placed inside a decorated and illuminated palanquin.

Dr Fr Johney PJ, Spokesperson, Bhopal Archdiocese  said ” We celebrate the Feast of Nativity with great devotion.    A nine-day Novena is held to mark the occasion. On the eve of Mother Mary’s birthday, a grand
procession is taken out. This has been our tradition for the last few decades.”
Fr Antonius, Assumption Church, Asha Niketan and Fr Maria Michael, Infant Jesus Church, Kalpana Nagar  performed the solemn mass on the occasion
