Haryana Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh has expressed his gratitude to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Mr. Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal for starting the construction work of three projects worth Rs 3500 crore for four laning of special areas of three National Highways and giving approval to eight new National Highways.
In a statement issued here today, Rao Narbir said that a new chapter has started to strengthen road network in Haryana during the short tenure of only nine months of present state government. He expressed special gratitude towards Mr. Gadkari for giving on the spot approval to a three kms long elevated highway at Badshahpur in Gurgaon, yesterday.
Rao Narbir said that Union Minister also announced that ring roads would be constructed in Ambala and Mohali-Chandigarh-Panchkula for smooth flow of traffic. Apart from this, he also announced to construct a new expressway connecting Haryana, Punjab as well as Jammu and Kashmir.
The eight new national highways announced by the Union Minister included Bhiwani-Mundhal-Jind-Meerut, Hisar-Adampur-Mansa-Bathinda, Jind-Safidon-Panipat, Titram Mod Kaithal-Hisar-Rajgarh Rajasthan Border, Pehowa-Kurukshetra-Yamunanagar, Khangesra-Kala Amb, Yamunanagar-Paonta Sahib and Ambala-Saha-Shahbad.
The Public Works Minister said that the Haryana Government is committed towards strengthening of roads especially in NCR area, expansion of Metro for public transport system and developing Regional Rapid Transit System corridors. He said that soon after assuming office, on the initiative of Chief Minister the pending construction works were started on National Highway No.1 and construction work of Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway was also got started.
He said that the Chief Minister has already given approval for an integrated scheme at Rajiv Chowk, Signature Tower and IFFCO Chowk for permanent solution congestion of traffic in Gurgaon. He said that yesterday Mr. Gadkari also announced that road projects worth Rs 25,000 crore would be executed in Haryana by the end of December this year. Apart from this, a sum of Rs 1600 crore has been approved for district link roads and other state roads and after monsoon, the construction work of roads would start at war footing.
Rao Narbir said that during Congress Government, construction work of two kilometer per day was carried out on National Highways whereas after BJP came to power this pace of construction has reached 14 kilometer per day. This way BJP Government has, instead of Congress Government, accelerated the pace of construction of national highways by seven times, he added.
