New Delhi,

It’s rare to see someone excelling in the study of modern medical science as well as Indian classical dance as the two fields require entirely different talent, training and skills.

However, 21-year-old Puja Sabherwal achieved this rare feat with her splendorous dance recital at the CD Deshmukh Auditorium, India International Centre, New Delhi.

Puja has cleared her final year in Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) with distinction and gold medals for being the first in the roll of honour for all four years of her undergraduate study.

Puja is currently pursuing her internship at Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, New Delhi.

She started learning Bharatnatyam at the age of 4, under Guru Smt Pooja Kapoor and completed her ‘Prabhakar’, a diploma of 6 years from ‘Prayag Sangeet SamitI’, Allahabad.

An alumnus of DPS RK Puram, she has consistently represented her school and college in the field of dance.

“Dance has been and always will be very close to my heart as it is an expression of joys, sorrows, failures and dreams,” she says.

She says that it is purely her dedication, handwork and passion for dance that has made it possible for her to perform ‘Arangetram’.

Arangetram marks the initiation of the dancer – the guru presenting her disciple to the world as mature and ready for the next level of the soulful endless art form.

More 250 people from various walks of life, who attended her dance recital, were spellbound to see Puja’s rare achievements.
