Pilgrims may spend the night on the roads when the highway is closed late in the evening. After the closure of the Badrinath Highway, passengers got stuck at various places.

Passengers were not able to travel from Joshimath to Rishikesh and from Rishikesh to Joshimath. A large number of boulders and debris are falling from the hill continuously on the Badrinath National Highway. People were in panic due to falling boulders and debris, but the matter of relief was that there was no accident. The highway remained closed for about three hours due to falling boulders and debris. It is a matter of relief that the administration and the BRO team have opened the highway after hard work.

It may be noted that the Badrinath Highway has been closed and opened several times in the last three days. Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham opened today on the day of Akshaya Tritiya, April 22, whereas, Kedarnath Dham is opening on April 25 and Badrinath Dham is opening on April 27. Gangotri Highway Helgugad and Yamunotri Highway were closed near Kisala in the early hours of Friday due to bad weather in Uttarkashi district.

The Gangotri Highway near Helgugad was restored by 8.45 am, but the Yamunotri Highway near Kisala remained closed throughout the day. The road was opened for traffic. Due to the closure of the highway, the doli was warmly welcomed at the Vishwanath temple. The doli will reach Phata on Saturday in the second leg. While it will reach Gaurikund on April 23 and Kedarnath Dham on April 24, where on April 25 at 6:20 am, the doors of Baba Kedar will be opened for devotees from all over the country and abroad.
