Nawanshahar-Dated: October 03, 2013:Awareness on various Centrally sponsered schemes is a must so that the common people could avail proper benefit of these welfare programmes. This was stated by Ms.Anandita Mittra, Deputy Commissioner, S.B.S.Nagar (Nawanshahr) while inaugurating a five-day  Photo Exhibition on ‘Bharat Nirman & Direct Benefit Transfer’ in Doaba Arya Sr.Sec.School, Nawashahr today. This Exhibition has been organised by Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP), Chandigarh under the aegis of  Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, GoI. The Chief guest various exhibits said that Government of India has envisaged many schemes under ‘Bharat Nirman’ for the welfare different sections of the society as depicted in the exhibition. She said that the exhibition would make the people aware of these welfare schemes as they can be better educated through the photographs. The exhibition gives a real glimpse of schemes like Bharat Nirman, MNREGA, NRHM, ICDS, RTE-SSA, Mid-day Meal Scheme, Women Empowerment, Nirmal Bharat ,Direct Benefit Transfer, Food Security , Aadhar etc. ,she added. Sh. Kulwant Singh, Distt.Education Officer said that such kind of awareness is very important for the the youth, which play a vital role in the development of the country. He also found ‘Aadhar Enrollment camp’ a useful endeavor for the common people of the area. Ms. Sapna, Field Exhibition Officer, DAVP, Chandigarh while briefing the objective of the exhibition informed that The exhibition is a part of media-outreach policy of the Government of India. She informed that over30 photo panels showcase various phases of development on different flagship programmes, which help face-lifting of rural & urban India and changing the life style of the common man, she added. Sh. R.S.Gill, Principal, staff and students of Doaba Arya Sr.Sec.School, Nawanshahr also commended the Exhibition & Aadhar Camp. With a view to promote Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme,  Chandigarh Regional office of Unique Identfication Authority of India (UIDAI), the nodal authority for the Unique authentication process of ‘Aadhar’ has organized an Enrollment camp for providing ‘Aadhar’ Number.  Mr. Vikas Sharma, an officer from UIDAI, Chandigarh conducted a quiz competition among the students and the winners were given away prizes by the Chief Guest.
