With a 235-yard (210 metres) distance beyond the swimming pool and beach, and a 9m x 5m green, it was a particularly challenging hole for the top players.Lee Westwood hit the target and claimed the first prize of the week in the special ‘nearest the pin’ competition. By finishing just four feet away from the flag on the specially constructed floating green, Westwood accepted the winner’s trophy from Ravini Perera, Senior Vice President, Sales, Marketing and PR at Atlantis, The Palm, and Feras Dahlan, Government Relations, DP World. Trophies were presented to all players, as well as a fantastic Atlantis luxury package to winner, Westwood, which included a phenomenal 5 night stay in one of the mesmerizing ocean themed Atlantis Underwater Suites, a unique setting that captivates guests with dramatic scenes of ancient ruins of the mythical lost city of Atlantis and its 65,000 marine inhabitants. As part of the unique prize, the winner also won a lavish dinner at the newly launched Chinese restaurant, YUAN, an opportunity to savour the taste of modern chinese cuisine with a traditional twist, as well as a sumptuous meal at the world-renowned Nobu. An Ultimate Dive, a once in a lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal with the marine life in the amazing 11 million litre Ambassador Lagoon was also offered  as part of the unique prize. Stenson acted as ‘mine host’ for the ‘Made for TV’ event, with hotel guests at Atlantis, The Palm invited to view the spectacular stunt from far below the balcony on the Atlantis Royal Beach. Westwood’s victory was confirmed by a ‘Guest Referee’ in swimming trunks – namely Ian Poulter, who volunteered to join the official referee in adjudicating on the barge and delivering the verdict. Westwood said “It was great fun. I like challenges like this at the start of a week and today’s one certainly focused the mind with such a small target in the lagoon. I was fortunate to get the right club – a seven iron – and I manage to catch it perfectly. ''Dubai is a special place for me. I’ve had a bit of success here and it’s great to be back for the DP World Tour Championship.” Stenson added: “I was delighted to welcome the guys into my humble home for the week! The shot itself was quite intimidating, especially getting straight out of bed onto my balcony to try to hit a six or seven iron to a tiny target. It was great fun, though.” US Open Champion, Rose, added: “Hitting from the Bridge Suite of this iconic hotel gave a great perspective of Dubai as well as providing a great way to kick off a big week on The European Tour.” Serge Zaalof, President and Managing Director of Atlantis, The Palm said “Atlantis has hosted many spectacular events in the past, as the Official Hotel of the DP World Tour Championship since 2009, we are delighted to have initiated this unique golf stunt with four of the world’s top golf players. He added, “We hope that all top 60 players and their families, staying at the resort during the DP World Championship, enjoy our world class facilities and newly launched rides at the Aquaventure Waterpark”.
