Ambassador Of Eu To India Makes Courtesy Call On Chief Minister

   Joao Cravinho, Ambassador of European Union and Head of Delegation to India made a courtesy call on Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot here at Chief Minister's office on Tuesday.

The EU Ambassador informed Shri Gehlot about his meeting with Rajasthan Chief Secretary Shri C. K. Mathew regarding progress of EU-SPP project.

Shri Gehlot requested him to extend ahead the programme.

Minister of State for Water Resources Shri Gurmeet Singh Kunnar, Parliamentary Secretary Shri Jaideep Dudi, Chief Secretary Shri C. K. Mathew, Team Leader, EU-SPP TA Team Rajasthan Shri Robert Roostee, Principal Secretary Water Resources Shri O. P. Saini, Principal Secretary to CM Shri Shreemat Pandey and Secretary to CM Shri Rajat Mishra were also present during EU Ambassador's meeting with the Chief Minister.

          Before making courtesy call on Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot EU Ambassador to India Shri Joao Cravinho had a meeting with Chief Secretary Shri C. K. Mathew and senior officials of the water resource department. The progress of the State Partnership Programme in Rajasthan funded by the EU (EU-SPP Project) was discussed during the meeting.

          Chief Secretary Shri C. K. Mathew requested Shri Cravinho to extend the execution period of the programme by two years till 2015. He informed that the proposal for constituting Water Regulatory Board in the State is under consideration of the Select Committee of the State Legislative Assembly after approval being given by the State Cabinet.

          Shri Mathew requested that based on the encouraging results the State Government is willing to implement the programme in the remaining 22 districts. The proposal to implement the second phase of the project was also discussed with the EU delegation. Currently the programme is being run in 11 districts of the State i.e. Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Rajsamand, Jalore, Pali, Churu, Jhunjhnu, Sikar, Bikaner and Nagaur.

          Principal Secretary Water Resources Shri O. P. Saini gave details about the important decisions taken and the programmes implemented by the State Government in water resource sector.

          Senior Programme Manager of EU delegation to India Shri Shouvik Datta and senior officials of the water resource department were also present during the meeting.
