In the PIL No 6509 of 2013 filed by social activist Dr Nutan Thakur challenging two Government Orders related with Security cover, Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench today directed the State government to produce the list of persons outside the authorized categories who have been provided such security. Displaying its displeasure over grant of security personnel to unauthorized persons, the Bench of Justice Imtiyaz Murtaza and Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya asked the Government to provide the names of persons on whose recommendations each of these security was provided. Court has asked whether such persons who have been provided security cover on payment basis have paid the money to the Government or not. The Court has sought a detailed status report on all these issues. In the petition Dr Thakur challenged the GO dated 05 May 2008 and 11 January 2013 regarding security for MLA, MPs, ex MLA/MP, Chairmen of Corporation etc and has prayed for quashing them as being discriminatory to ordinary citizen.
