Jai Ram Thakur, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister said here today that to make the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) more responsible as regards to the implementation of various programmes and policies and undertaking developmental works in right perspective, the Government had decided to award such panchayats with a cash prize of Rs. five lakh, Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 20 lakh at Block, District and State level respectively under Atal Adarsh Gram Puraskar Yojna. He said that all the 3243 Gram Panchayats of the State would be eligible to participate in the process for which a schedule has been prepared.
He said that video conferencing with Block Development Officers, Panchayat Secretaries and Sahayaks of districts Kangra, Hamirpur, Chamba and Una would be held on 21st June, 2012 so as to apprise them of the various features, procedures and as how to apply and evaluate the working of the Panchayats under the Yojna. Similarly, video conferencing of such officers/officials of districts Mandi, Kullu, Bilaspur, Lahaul-Spiti on 22nd June, 2012 and those of Shimla, Sirmaur, Kinnaur and Solan districts would be held on 23rd June, 2012.
He further stated that all the Chief Executive Officers and Secretary, Zila Parishad had been directed to issue the notification regarding constituting of Block and District level evaluation committees within three days.
