Shrimad Bhagwat Katha is the essence of all the Vedas. By listening to this, man becomes satisfied and becomes free from the sins of many births. Also, the purpose behind listening to the story or getting any auspicious work done is to achieve the ultimate goal.  Vedas says that before entering the Katha venue, it is necessary to forget the sorrows and troubles of worldly life and think about the Supreme Lord God and the purpose for which we come from home to listen to the Katha must be fulfilled.

Shrimad Bhagwat Katha has special importance in Sanatan Dharma. It is told in the scriptures that just by listening to the story for the first time, King Parikshit attained salvation and was saved from untimely death. This is the reason that from time to time devotees keep organizing Shrimad Bhagwat Katha at their homes, public places etc. The virtues that can be gained by listening to the story, the rules and if one cannot listen to the story, then how can one attain virtuous results.

Salvation in Kalyug only by remembering God

‘Kalyug kevak naam adhara, sumir sumir nar utrahi para’, it means that in Kalyug only the remembrance of God is the only basis to cross over from existence. If you do not have time to sit at one place and take the name of the Lord, then you can remember the Supreme Lord in your mind temple even while walking. Even after doing this, you will get the virtuous result of listening to Bhagwat Katha.
