Air scrutiny in Jharkand followed Polling
Jharkhand. It was the chilled morning with minimum temperature on the edge of around 9 degree Celsius at many places, polling began in Jharkand at sharp 7am for the first of the five-phase assembly elections under tight security and air scrutiny. Men and women with warm clothing were seen in different booths in all the 26 assembly constituencies.
The polling time has been altered to 7am to 3pm from the usual one in view of the naxal warning and poll boycott announced by the left wing extremist of the constituencies.
Former legislators Hemlal Murmu, Suraj Mandal (JMM), Furkan Ansari (Cong), ex-Speaker Alamgir Alam (Cong), ex-minister Raghuvar Das (BJP), Saryu Roy (BJP) and ex-minister Pradeep Yadav (JVM-P) are among the 470 candidates whose electoral fortune are to be decided.
The high-pitch campaigning for the first phase witnessed the multi-crore scam allegedly involving former Chief Minister Madhu Koda and his associates raised by different parties.
