A new chapter of development has begun
Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel did the e-inauguration of 72-seat regular flight service from Jagdalpur to Raipur and Hyderabad today from his residence office. Now people of Bastar would be able to avail the regular flights from Jagdalpur based Ma Dantewashwari Aiport to Raipur and Hyderabad. Ministers, MPs, Parliamentary Secretary, MLAs and public representatives of Bastar region along with senior administrative officials attended the inaugural programme via video conferencing.
Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel said in his address to the programme that with inauguration of air services from Jagdalpur, we have unleashed major opportunities and possibilities for development of Bastar Division. On the occasion, Chief Minister mentioned in detail about various efforts made to connect Bastar through air services. He said that Government has been making consistent efforts to benefit the people of Bastar with air travel services. Our Government successfully received permission for flight services from DGCA New Delhi on March 02, 2020, as a result of which Alliance Air Bastar (Associate company of Air India) has started flight services from Jagdalpur today.
Chief Minister said that it would take only one hour to reach from Bastar to Raipur and Hyderabad via flight. And from Hyderabad, one can travel to any place in the world. Presently, it takes 6 hours to reach from Bastar to Raipur by road and nearly 12 hours to reach Hyderabad by road. Now in case of medical emergencies, people of Bastar will be able to reach Raipur,Vishakhapatnam or Hyderabad via flight within an hour. Doctors from metro cities will be able to visit Bastar and provide their expert medical services. Flight services will also promote Bastar Tourism, attracting tourists from across the world.
Chief Minister said that commencement of air services will also help in development of Banking and telecomm sector in Bastar Division. Administrative team of Centre and State Government will be able to travel quickly to Bastar under special circumstances. Youth in Bastar will be able to avail higher education facilities. Businessmen in Bastar will be largely benefitted by the flight services. Art, culture, sports, theatre and other cultural events can be successfully organized now as celebrities will be able to reach Bastar conveniently. This will also unleash plethora of employment opportunities for people of Bastar Jagdalpur. It will lead to extensive growth and expansion in employment-oriented sectors such as business, education, medical science, tourism etc. In the same sequence, ‘Amcho Bastar Canteen’ is being opened at the airport terminal. This canteen would be run by naxal-affected families. Many such initiatives will be taken in future as well, to provide best possible employment opportunities to young talents.
Chief Minister also inaugurated the ‘Aamcho Bastar Canteen’ on the occasion. People from various parts of Bastar region thanked Chief Minister for commencing the flight services from Jagdalpur to Raipur. Ministers- Mr. Ravindra Choubey, Mr. TS Singhdeo, Mr. Tamradhwaj Sahu, Mr. Mohammad Akbar, Dr Premsai Singh Tekam, Mr. Kawasi Lakhma, Mr. Jaisingh Agrawal, Bastar MP Mr. Deepak Baij, Chairman Bastar Development Authority Mr. Lakheshwar Baghel, Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Rekhchand Jain, MLA Mr. Chandan Kashyap, Chhattisgarh Fishery Board Chairman Mr. MR Nishad, Mayor Jagdalpur Mrs. Shakuntala Sahu and other public representatives attended the inaugural programme online and thanked Chief Minister meeting this lond-pending demand.
On the occasion, Union Aviation Minister for State Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri said in his message that commencement of air travel services will promote tourism and development in Jagdalpur Bastar. He said that Bastar art and culture has its unique identity. On the occasion, Mr. Puri gave detailed information about the action plan for expansion of Raipur airport, and efforts being made to develop Jagdalpur and Ambikapur airport under Udaan Yojana. He congratulated the people of Bastar and Chhattisgarh, on behalf of Airport Authority, Air India’s associate company Alliance Air, State Government.
Foundation of Jagdalpur airport was laid in year 1939
Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel said that the foundation of Jagdalpur airport was laid in year 1939 during British rule, before the second world war. On March 13, 1953, the first Prime Minister of India Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru had visited this ‘Jahaaj Bhata’ of Bastar. Besides,great personas such as Ex-President Dr Rajendra Prasad, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Dr Pratibha Patil and Ex-Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Mr. Morarji Desai, Mr. VP Singh, Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee had also visited this place. On March 20, 1988, ‘Vayudoot Seva’ from Jagdalpur to Bhopal was started by the then Chief Minister Mr. Motilal Vora. Mr. Vora had travelled via flight from Bhopal to Jagdalpur with his cabinet ministers.
Jagdalpur Airport to be known by the name of Ma Danteshwari
Chhattisgarh Government has named Jagdalpur Airport by the name of Devi Ma Danteshwari. This airport has been developed over 57.6 hectares of area in Jagdalpur. The air strip here is 1704 m long and 30 m wide. The basic facilities at the airport will be looked after by PWD, Chhattisgarh Government, while air traffic control will be managed by Airport Authority of India. In this airport, flights with seating capacity of 72 are being operated. Passenger flights will take off from Hyderabad at 9am and reach Raipur at 12 noon, via Jagdalpur. For the return, this flight will take off from Raipur at 12.30, reach Jagdalpur by 1.35pm and land in Hyderabad around 3.40pm. These flights will be operated daily, and ticket booking will be facilitated by Air Alliance Website, app, and ticket counter. Air fare for these flights has also been kept minimum, so that maximum number of people get to avail this service. Fare for Hyderabad to Jagdalpur flight is Rs 1405 only and that for Jagdalpur to Raipur flight is Rs 1270 only
