Zani zirakpuria
The prolific Hindi/Punjabi writer Prof. Phulchand Manav was felicitated by a select gathering of men and women of letters, at the residence of a Hindi Writer Chander Bhargava at Panchkula. With the Former Editor of Dainik Tribune, Radhey Shayam Sharma in the chair, a literary organization ‘Mittar Milan’ provided an opportunity to the writers and critics of standing to speak eloquently about their lifelong interaction with the man of the day. Prominent for giving their ‘good and not so good’ comments in a brave manner were Principal (Retd.) Gian Chand Sharma, Dr. Shashi Prabha, Subhash Rastogi, Jagmohan Kaur, Jani Zirakpuria, Naveen Neer, Ekam Manuke and of course Yogeshwar Kaur wife of Prof. Phulchand Manav.
The atmosphere remained somewhat enjoyably charged with speaker after speaker pouring out their feelings, eulogizing the literary achievements and satirically underlining the daily life flaws of ‘awfully lovable’ person that Phulchand Manav is!
Speaking about his literary works and times Prof. Manav pointed out his background and the challenges faced to become what he is. He candidly admitted being in the habit of calling a spade a spade, adding that he never carried any feelings of ill-will against anybody after giving his piece of mind.
The sitting came out to be first of its kind in Panchkula and ended with a vote of thanks moved by Jani Zirakpuria who also read out his published ‘Shabad Chittar’ on Prof. Phulchand Manav and conducted the proceedings.lan’
