Ludhiana,

With the objective to sensitize people about infertility, Medicover Fertility today organized a free health check-up camp at Baba Ji Bhure Wala, Haibowal Kalan ,Ludhiana.

Around 50-60 people were benefited in a day with this initiative. The consultations were given by pioneer Dr Tanveer Kaur, Infertility Specialist, Medicover Fertility along with her team.  Medicover has been organizing camps like these in the past as well by covering the areas of J&K, Punjab and UP.

The society is witnessing an increasing number of infertile patients. Because of the seriousness of the issue; Medicover Fertility has taken up this mission to fight the fear of infertility. Medicover Fertility has launched health checkup camps in many states. The IVF centre already organized series of camps in various places like Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Zirakpur, Meerut, Modi Nagar, Bhiwadi, Bahadurgarh, Rewari, Najafgarh, Greater Noida, etc. People who visited were also benefited with free ultrasound and free semen analysis coupons.

Dr Tanveer Kaur Consultant, Infertility Specialist, Medicover Fertility, stated that, “We have seen a rise in male infertility cases over the last few years as compared to female infertility. The common causes are lifestyle changes, not having proper sleep, regular smoking and drinking problems etc. If a couple doesn’t have a baby after trying a year of unprotected intercourse, then they should consult a doctor. Usually female infertility has signs like irregular periods but male infertility has no symptoms till the time they are not diagnosed by tests. But the good news is that the problem can be treated by using fertility treatments”.

The implications of these problems somehow negatively affect the lives directly or indirectly. India is a country with a huge population, yet this very aspect of fruitful procreation, which helped to produce this population, is now dwindling as we see a steady decline in fertility. One out of every six couples need some kind of help to give birth to a child. It is estimated that infertility affects 10% to 14% of the Indian population. The need for fertility treatment all over India is enormous.

“Men especially in the cities, find that they are sub- fertile and unable to make their wives pregnant .The father wonders how his son can be infertile when he has sired so many children. The mother is shocked that her beloved son who can do no wrong is infertile and refuses to believe it, ultimately blaming the female. But, the fact is that infertility is a problem that needs to be taken seriously and changes have to be incorporated’’ Dr Tanveer Kaur added.

World Health Organization (WHO) estimated that in 2010, 48.5 million couples worldwide were unable to have a child.

The concern for fertility is a grave one. Men and women of all ages are looking for a medical cure for their infertility. They desire a solution that can help them to have a baby despite the medical problems that they have. Fortunately, IVF provides a successful treatment for infertility and a large number of infertile couples can get pregnant and have babies.
